Brass Band of Mine "Konin" is only about ten years younger than his company. So you can say that the musicians were, and still are, those who continuously represent a mine in the city, region and country.

Merit of the most active, most eminent members of the band were noticed, evaluated and rewarded. Their names have passed into history, persisted in the chronicle of the orchestra, meticulously maintained by her long-time member of the Henry Łechtańskiego. The Chronicle is a source of knowledge about the orchestra and its members.

Difficult beginnings

There was a shortage of instruments and sheet music. Trials were held in the meeting room in Marantowie patent. Even worse conditions were trying to get to the people of Bishop Kazimierz, where recruited a large group of musicians.

For the first time appeared on the amateur stage band, composed of Henry and Roman Dukiel Werbiński - trumpet, Jerome, Augus, Wojciech Jankowski and Richard Staszak - saxophones, Francis mallet - accordion, Bogumil Piskorz - bass and Marian Mencel - drums.

The first foreign trip

31 December 1991, he retired Tadeusz Werbiński. To prevent a reduction in the level of the orchestra, 2 September of that year was appointed to the position of conductor Wojciech Jankowski.

Religious event in 1991 was the visit of Pope John Paul II, June 7 in Wloclawek. During the Mass Field Mining brass band toured the mine "Konin".

In carefully conducted chronicle, recorded in 1992 enlarged the orchestra of 39 to 46 musicians. Which included the Grazyna Maślińska, the first woman in the history of the band, playing the wind instrument.

An important fact to note is the establishment in early 1992 the band "Dixieland Band".

Not only for miners

For forty years the orchestra members were involved in the project beyond the mining industry. With great kindness Koninian social initiative met the musicians, organizing concerts, among others the home shopping "center" in the days before Christmas 1993, six beautiful evening performances under the title "Carol of the good news for the poor dzieciny," and everything in order to collect donations for Christmas gifts for poor children.

40 - Summer

It is a jubilee year 1994. Celebrations of 40 years the orchestra began on April 23 Mass at St. Maximilian Kolbe. Thanking God for 40 years of the orchestra, also prayed for the fellow who had gone to the "eternal music-making." A gala concert of the 40th anniversary was held April 29 in the GDK "Oskard". "Forty years have passed" - sang together with the orchestra, the honored guests of the concert - Andrew Rosiewicz.

This year, we performed further episodes of Duszniki Choir Festival in Wielkopolska, and the Review of Orchestras in Swarzedz gained "Golden Strug." We participated in the ceremony of death anniversary of Fr. Jerzy Popieluszko in Wloclawek.

From 6 to 9 August, our band took part in the Brass Band Parade in Herne, Germany, and soon after returning to the country held a joint concert with the Orchestra of the Polish Army representative at the stadium, "Skra" in Warsaw on the 40th anniversary of the Warsaw garrison. Since May, begins his term a new board of the orchestra. President is Richard Maciejewski, a new secretary - John Langner, treasurer - Zdzislaw Pruszynski, and members - Grazyna Maślińska, Jacek Banaszak, Victor Dziewa and Stanislaw Dobrzycki.

Jubilee Mines "Konin"

The year 1995 was the Year of Jubilee - 50 - Lecia Brown Coal Mine "Konin". More than a dozen performances of the orchestra was the jubilee. Also participated in the funeral of the composer Poznan - Leona Landowskiego.

In September, during the celebration of "Days of horse", the residents of our city saw a colorful spectacle in the implementation of the Representative Orchestra of the Polish Army in the beautiful, historical costumes, and a joint concert of three orchestras: the above-mentioned, a German from Herne and ours.

Awards and trophies

The year 1996 went down in the history of the orchestra the next winning "Golden Horn" and "Honour Maces."

In 1997 we participated in the Festival of Radio "Mercury" in Poznan, and said goodbye to our oldest orchestra's music - Peter Michalak, who played in the orchestra from 1 April 1954 to September 1997. He played the longest - 43 years. The late Peter was a living link between the two generations of musicians of the orchestra. In July this year the country suffered its flood. Flooded towns and villages, many residents have lost the whole life. There were street collections and concerts. Our orchestra played for the flood victims on July 20.

At the Sixth National Brass Band Finale in Poznan in 1998. we won third place. The orchestra performed a concert Barbórkowym Teachers Choir, conducted by the City of Poznan. Eligiusz Szczepaniak. Together they performed "Hallelujah" - Handel, "Ave Verum Corpus"-WA Mozart and "Song of Slaves" from the opera "Nabucco" - G.Verdiego. 1999 years is the year of the next VII visit of Pope John Paul II to the Polish. This time also included a visit to Earth Konin. The greeting and the presence of John Paul II participated in the sanctuary Licheń several choirs and orchestras. Wojciech Jankowski orchestras he conducted.

Concert jubileuszowo - barbórkowy consisted of two parts. The audience listened to, inter alia: "Dancing Podhalańczyków," whose author, prof. Konowalski Benedict was present in the audience. Sc. Bronislaw Wlodarczyk thanked the orchestra for the wonderful concert, during which the orchestra received a pennant, which earlier in the morning Mass was dedicated.

Performances abroad

In February 2000 we played 113 concerts in the series "The Poznań Musical Mornings." the end of June we went to the Czech Republic on the twentieth anniversary Brass Band Festival, "Fedo-2000" in Steti nad Labem. We were among the invited bands from the Czech Republic, Germany, Holland, Denmark and Norway. In October, we participated in the celebrations of 1000th anniversary of the bishopric in Kolobrzeg, combined with the 308 plenary meeting of the Conference of the Polish Episcopate. At the end of November there was a trip to Austria and Italy. It was a tour-pilgrimage during which we visited Venice, Florence, Rome, Monte Cassino, Assisi, Padua and back Kahlenberg near Vienna.

In the new century

Carol Concert in the convent of the Reformed began a new 2001. This year, our country once again struck by floods and although not spilled Warta, the people of Konin solidarity helped the injured. in a charity concert was attended by our friends from Warsaw: Barbara Abramovich and Mr Andrew Zagdański. In Gniezno, the orchestra takes part in the program: "Those meetings" which aired on TV Polsat. For the third time we win the "Golden Horn" in Grodzisk Wielkopolski, take part in a mass dedicated to the unveiling of the monument of Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski.

Year 2003: We participated in ingresie Bishop Wieslaw Mering Wloclawek. Orchestra graced the ceremony 140 - anniversary of the January Uprising in Ignacewie.

The new headquarters

The great event of 2003 was a move to Marantowa. After years of wandering in the uncomfortable and rather random places musicians finally lived to their own home. The seat of the orchestra is a single storey building at ul. Gajowa - spacious, comfortable and newly renovated. It was a place to store instruments, cloakroom and lounge, and above all the extensive rehearsal. Here every Tuesday orchestra meets in plenary session on the main sample. There are also smaller rooms in which they practice each section. The pride of conductor is a library containing hundreds of scores.

The advantage of the resort is also its surroundings - square where musicians can practice drill parade.

Honorary Presidents

Moving to a new location would not be possible without the help of honorary presidents of the orchestra. This honorable title given by two Presidents of the Board Brown Coal Mine "Konin" who are personally involved in helping the team.

The first honorary president, from 28 April 1995 to 27 August 2002, was a MSc. Bronislaw Wlodarczyk, a great friend and admirer of the orchestra. His achievement is to start work on building adaptive Marantowie. Help President Wlodarczyk enabled instruments and enrich the library through the purchase of instruments and scores.

The works of Mr. Wlodarczyk finished second honorary president of MSc. Mieczyslaw Lichy, who received the title of the 2002 Barborka his constant loving care of the orchestra made the headquarters building at ul. Gajowa was completed on time. Half a century Orchestra

2004: 50th anniversary of the orchestra. Mass inaugurating the jubilee celebration was held on 18 April. The day before Polish accession to the European Union played a concert in front of the Marshal's Office in Poznan. In September, we participated in the National Days of Hippotherapy in Kolobrzeg-Budzistowo. In addition to mining the orchestra performed here, "Golec uOrkiestra" and "Partita". A month later we played in the 20 th anniversary of the death of Fr. Jerzy Popieluszko in Wloclawek. At the end of the year, "Review of Konin," announced a plebiscite on the "Man of the quarter." Our band won the poll in the category - Artist. in December, traditionally-concert barbórkowy.
